I live in illinois and there is this company where you get to work 40+ hours and as far as I know you're supposed to get time and a half pay after 40 hours of work in a week but they refuse to pay me. I was wondering if anyone knew an organization that deals with companies like these or if anyone knew a number I could call for advice or help, many thanks

  1. Go to your union rep, or seek legal advice get a solicitor (Lawyer, rather). If you have a contract then legally they have to honour it otherwise it's extortion. As long as you've done the work, (which I'm sure you have) then they are breaking the law.

  2. Are you an exempt or a non-exempt employee?  Certain positions are considered 'exempt' and don't qualify for overtime regardless of how much you work.

Also, what's the description of your business?  Labor laws differ for different types of companies.  Open a claim with your company HR department if you suspect wrongdoing.

  3. go to they labor department if they won't pay you.

  4. Check with the Department of Labor.

  5. Where I live (Northern California) if someone has a problem like that for example, there is a television station that take calls like that and get to the bottom of it.I don't think your company wants to be seen on t.v they might change their mind. But if you want to keep your job I wouldn't do that but go another way the like the union. Good luck and sorry to hear that!

  6. State Labor Board will help you. You need to gather lots of proof,ie time cards and or any other relevant evidence.

  7. Ok the Labor Board is the organization that handles it.. New workers law is that you can work 10 hrs a day at straight pay they DO NOT have to pay you OT ... Unless it states you are paid extra for holidays than you do not get paid extra for working on them...
