My brother had just bought that supplement drink (containing strawberry-kiwi flavor) and he wants my mom to try it too. I have no idea whether it is a good idea to try anything that "has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration."

What should I do? My brother feels that it is a great idea to do so. My mom feels that it is a bad idea. And I'm in the middle of conern, not knowing what to do.

I need your personal opinion about this. Thanks.

  1. Aloe vera juice is a FOOD and as such will probably never be evaluated by the FDA. The company puts that disclaimer on their advertising to protect themselves from repercussion should the product fail to live up to their claims for cures.

I can't get into the MA websites today (Sunday) but I think they have removed the latex (the part that has a harsh laxative effect) so the juice should be safe for most everyone. Because of the method of marketing, this brand is going to be more expensive than what's on the shelves. Plain old aloe juice is available everywhere - Wal-Mart, health food stores, larger supermarkets. It doesn't taste bad and doesn't cost much - maybe $12 for 2 quarts.
