  1. Get a job, pay for them yourself:)

  2. Maybe you could tell her:

The other day, I read a very sad fairy tale, it was about a lovely, charming princess who had everything going for her, and would have had a perfect life except her evil stepmother wouldn't let her wear colored contacts! As a result of her eyes not being her favorite color, the princess' hopes for a happy life were dashed to pieces. Every night she sat at the edge of her bed with her face in her hands crying. None of the young knights would date her. They all said "you are a stunning beauty beyond compare, your voice is as the birds calling in the tree tops, your visage is as a greek statue, your golden tresses are like like the sunlight on a mountain stream; you are perfect in every way; you would have made a most exquisite bride, but alas, it is not to be, for your eyes are the wrong color!"  Finally, one day, the the beautiful young princess, so desperately lonely and weary of her miserable existence, threw herself from the parapets of the north tower. To this day, visitors to the castle ocassionaly report seeing an apparition of a young lady dressed in her finery, crying and whining about wanting colored contacts!

Seriously, try to find out why she doesn't want you to have them. I suspect it has nothing to do with money, since you said if you bought them yourself, she would confiscate them. Maybe she is afraid you won't take care of them properly and wind up trashing your eyes. Maybe she thinks "I didn't have colored contacts when I was a kid, so you shouldn't have them either" (Yeah, some people are like that!). Maybe she is against it because she doesn't like to see evidence that her "little girl" is becoming an adult. Maybe she just thinks it is one of those expensive things that "you will just die if you don't have" and then are tired of it in a few weeks?

Well, any way, you can always try endless whining!

  3. Do you need corrective lenses??  Unless you need contacts for optical purposes there's no sense in preparing an argument to convince her.  Pay for it yourself if that's what you want.
