I don't know what job I want in the future. I'm not the sporty type, but I'm into clubs and everything. I like working with kids, I like fashion designing, I like modeling, I like acting, I like scrapbooking, I like cooking, and I like helping other people. I change my mind way too easily, and I can never stick to what I'm doing. I'm not very good at math or science and they are both boring to me. If I'm going to get a job, I should get one that involves something I like doing, right? I need help!!!

  1. Breathe. 1...2...3. Relax! Honestly, and I know you don't want to hear this, no one is going to ask what classes you took in high school. As long as you do well and get a great ACT/SAT score, they could care less. Then after you go to college, what you took in high school will matter even less.

So, the best advice I can give is to take as many AP/Honors classes as you can and do well, that way you can get into an awesome college and find your passion. Treat your high school education like a liberal arts education. Take a foreign language, art/music/drama classes, lots of science and math (even if you hate it, either you will have the foundation you need to continue or you will have enough foundation to opt out of requirements in college), history, and English. Don't slack either by only taking 2 years of science or history or math--no truly competitive college will respect that. Since you seem to have pretty broad interests, use that as your strength. Every college loves a well-rounded student. Also, be sure to pursue extra-curricular and leadership positions outside of your academic classes. Those will make a difference when it comes to interviewing and writing college essays.

  2. High school is not the time to decide what you want for a career. Many people don't even make this decision until late into their college life.

Therefore, take classes that you are interested in, that you would consider fun. Enjoy high school and try to make it as stress free as possible.
