it seems like no matter what i do and no matter how i try i cannot keep my temper intact when my daughter acts out and misbehaves. I dont hurt her i end up yelling ALOT. if she doesnt get her way she lays down on the floor and screams. that only makes the situation worse. what should i do? i dont like or want to keep yelling at my precious child

  1. Ignore it. I know it is a hard thing to do, but rewarding, or punishing the tantrum only reinforces the behavior you want stopped. I can't imagine someone actually posted that they DUMPED water on their ownchild.

My son is now five years old now, and when he found out I would not pay attention to him during a tantrum, he quit having them.

As far as your temper, try to count backwards from ten VERY SLOWLY. Breathe in and out slowly and if that is not succesful, go into another room away from your child and yell until you calm down.

Parenting is not easy, and it takes disipline to learn to control your anger. (also make sure you get enough sleep, and if not, try to nap when your toddler does. it worked for me)

  2. Tell her she will loose a privalige if she continues to act this way. Or maybe you should tell her to calm down and listen, tell her firmly NOT YELLING but tell her firmly to STOP. Tell her this isnt the way to act.

  3. I have a daughter that used to pull the same tricks.  One day I was getting a drink of water and she started screaming and crying on the floor acting the fool.  I calmly dumped the entire glass of water on her face.   She never repeated the temper tantrum.  Try it.
