Question

i'm using some crankbaits about 8-10 ft of water and deep diving ones too

but theres no bites what am i doing wrong?

More than likely you are not imparting any extra action in the bait. A crank bait needs to a good stop and go retrieve and not a steady straight crank retrieve. take time to get a cadence going. Stop the bait after every 5-6 turns of the reel. If  the bait happens to touch something, anything, rock-stump or just bottom, stop the bait for at least a 3 count.

Try this next time you are out. I will almost bet ya that you catch some.

the colors of the baits have got to match the forage that bass feed on. if you are in a current they will work sometimes casting down stream but casting up stream allows the bait to come into view by the upstream facing fish you are trying to catch. crank baits might be damaged or the ring where you tie on is off kilter and needs a little adjustment to allow it&#039;s retrieve straight up and down. Also your line could be the problem and in clear clean water you need to go down maybe even as low as four pound test. Also you might be spoiling the water with your shadow where is your shadow? always have the sun in your face that way your shadow won&#039;t spook the fish. So! Its the combination of the direction you are casting and retrieving, the color of the bait, your locations and if it is riding true to it&#039;s capacity or not. Also it could be the bass aren&#039;t where you think they should be and they aren&#039;t feeding on shad they are eating crawdads? are all probable (highly) causes for no catches

Also, just throwing a crankbait into open water isn&#039;t going to get you a bite. Find some structure and don&#039;t be scared to throw the crankbait into the thick stuff either.
