I need help finding a camcorders that fit in my price range. What's the best option?

We are making amateur films and we would like to get a nice camcorder to do what we want it to do. We have a price limit of $250.00 and we would like the best camera we could get. We don't know anything about videocameras, so if you would help us, it would be greatly appreciated!
