Are you looking for kindergarten or Pre-K?  It sounds like what you may want is a good Pre-K program.  Either way, contact your local elementary school first and ask if there is a Pre-K program there, unless your child will be kindergarten eligible by the cut-off date.  (They will know what the cut-off date is in your area.)  If she won't be 5 before the cut-off, and the school doesn't have Pre-K, ask for a list of good Pre-K and preschool programs in your area.  You can also contact local churches and your chld care information agency for this information.  Then visit those programs to make an evaluation yourself of the program.  Pre-K at the school will probably be free.  You will need to ask at the other types of programs what the fees are.  I also googled Pre-K in Poughkeepsie and here's a link to the search results.
