I've decided to pick up skimboarding and need a little advice. What type of board would be good for me? I've been previously suggested the ZAP Bat was good and I liked the suggestion, but i called a store and they say they're discontinuing the line of bats and using the laser, which is for 115 lbs and under. I'm 14 years old, weigh around 115 lbs, and am 5'4". I need to find some sort of board that is for beginners and is around 100$.

  1. you can browse through the selection on this website: http://www.skimshop.com/  and see if your store sells them there. The laser would do but I would probably get a bigger board.

  2. the laser is also good. even though you are near the top of the weight for that board, it will still work. your rides might not be as long, but it will still work fine. Just to be safe though, go to exileskimboards.com and exile boards are good too. Click on product and then size chart and find what size and board will suit you. Just to warn, Exiles are a bit expensive, but they last a long time...Hope I helped!!

  3. zap is going to be the least expensive brand you will find for the best quality.  I dont know how good you are or what kind of skim boarding you want to do (flatland or wave riding).  i suggest you go to skimshop.com and look for boards there they have the best prices and free shipping on orders over $150. a zap wedge medium is $130 and thats for 120 lbs riders.  but dont get a board that is too small for you id get the zap wedge medium.

wavezone is also a good brand.

also check your local pawn shops for used boards

    i got a $200 wavezone for $35
