  1. I know they've restored some WWII vintage tugs out at Minter Field in Shafter, CA.

They may have some info, though they were primarily an Army Air Corps training facility, and the museum there is big on technical manual preservation.

  2. I've always been able to find goofy parts by going through google searches. You might have to go out several pages, but you can usually wind up pretty close.

I don't know if you're going to be able to lay your hands on a manual or not.

Since they're primarily automotive parts, I've develloped a trick; I wait until a rainy Sunday morning into a parts store, (it's raining, they're not busy, it's early,) and offer the bribe of a 12 pack of beer or six pack of something like Mike's Hard Lemonade if the guy will look at my part and go match it. I've had one kid by God go open boxes until he matched my parts. (The brake calipers for an MA-40 match a 1-ton Chevrolet truck. Who knew?)

Another source would be to call the Commemorative Air Force at Lancaster. They had a tug with an old flat head four that had been on a carrier in the Second World War.

And Dennis with Napa in Carrolton, Tx was always a genius at finding parts I needed. Knew his way around a Wilson catalogue like nobody I've ever seen before. He was able to find me parts for Perkins engines without me having to go through Perkins Dealers.

Beyond that, burn up some phone time. Call International. I was surprised when Wollard sent me a manual for a tug built in the late 50's. It was more expensive than some of my college textbooks, but they sent it.

Another company, for whom you're going to have research on your own, is RexTex on Harry Hines in Dallas, Tx. It's owned by Lee Leavy, he might be able to help, (if of course he's still alive and active.) Tim Adamson out in Georgia might be able to help, 770-460-2927 although he was trying to get out of the GSE business last I talked to him.

Beyond that, without being able to wrench on it myself, I doubt I can be of any further assistance.
