I found out I am pregnant and I was denied medicaid due to income. I figured since I need it asap I would pick something with a higher monthly figure and a lower deductible I don't understand a lot of it though and not sure where to look .My old work health insurance was very expensive so I had cancelled it only to realize months later I should have kept it :/ any advice? Thanks

  1. don't worry if you show up to the hospital in labor they have to accept you and the financial aid rep will get you qualified for emergency medicaid.

  2. go to www.everyonebenefits.com/trodgers

it is discount health benefits company and they have a hospital advocacy program that would help out a lot!

  3. If you lower your deductible, your premium will be very high. How about the opposite strategy? Raise your deductible, but pay it with pre-tax dollars saved in a Health Savings Account (HAS). Depending on your tax bracket, you could virtually double your buying power, since half your check is taken by the government before you even see it: 9.3% in state income tax (California), 28% in federal income tax, and 7.65% in Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax for a combined rate of 44.9%. To take advantage of this program, you need to enroll in a “qualified” High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Under federal law, the minimum deductible in a HDHP plan is $1,100 for an individual and $2,200 for a family. The maximum deductibles are $5,500 for an individual and $11,000 a family.

You can put up to $2,850 for an individual or $5,650 in your HSA per year from state and federal taxes in a Health Savings Account (HSA). The contributions are yours to keep, rolling over each year. The funds are not taxed, provided you use them to pay medical expenses or withdraw them after age 65. The funds earn interest on a tax-deferred basis. Think of it as an IRA that you can use to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses. To find a qualified plan, you should speak with a health insurance broker. A broker works with several insurers and can find the best plan, rates and coverage. To find a broker, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. Good luck!

  4. Sorry, but you won't find anyone to insure you if you are already pregnant.

You might not have qualified for medicaid, but your state should have a similar program that you might have to pay a small premium for. Check with your worker.

If you still don't qualify, hospitals and OB's have discounted cash rates for pregnancy and delivery. Make sure you check those out as early as you can so you will have more time to save. Be sure to ask about normal and c-section deliveries, epidurals and circumcision.

  5. there is a program called Linx2Health..it's not an insurance program, but it can be used as a supplement or medical savings benefit and will reduce your visits anywhere from 30-50% off. check www.5linx.net/lab for more info under products. Hope this helps..congrats on the baby
