All I know about him is that he once lived in perry, lawrence county,OH. He had a son named george w. tolliver and his wife was rosa adams. I know he was born in the 1800's. But can anybody find any information on him. I have looked and I really can't find anything. I mainly just want to know who his parents are and where they are from. Thank you.

  1. www.ancestry.com--If this is the same George Tolliver (and the dates match from those in your question), the reason you can't find info on his father is plain as day in this:

    Name:  George W. Tolliver

    Birth:  14 February 1893 (14 Feb 1893) - Ohio

Death:  1963 - Coal Grove, Ohio

Parents:  MARK Tolliver (not Michael), Rose Adams

    Spouse:  Myrtle Clara Ackerson

    www.familysearch.org

    Rosa J. ADAMS

    Birth Year --1873

        Birthplace OH

        Age 7

        Occupation

        Marital Status --Single

        Race White

        Head of Household --Joshua ADAMS

        Mother:  Margaret (Elkins) ADAMS

        Relation --Daughter

        Father's Birthplace-- TN

        Mother's Birthplace --WV

    Census Place-- Perry, Lawrence, Ohio

I've tried every spelling I can think of, every possible birth year, etc. and I can't find Mark/Michael Tolliver ANYWHERE. Even familysearch.org (the LDS/Mormon site) doesn't have him listed. Are you SURE that's his first name and not his middle name maybe??

  2. Katie, in my experience... 90% of issues in finding someone lies in following your basics.  Which means, work from today, back, and using records.. those will lead you to previous.

Start with George and Rosa.  You have not posted explicit info on them.. you should have a death date (or range), which will provide you with dates so they can be found in the census. If they were married after 1930, that won't happen, since that is the latest census which is open.  1800s is a huge range to guess at.  If you find George was born in 1920, then you have something to work with.  If you don't have George.. then drop back to George and Rosa's known kids.   If eldest child was born in 1940.. that gives you that Rosa was at LEAST 15-20, but no more than 50.

Michael may have lived in Lawrence co, Ohio.. that is not to say that George did or didn't.

Can I get you to either edit or repost, with better framework? I bet we can find them both, but need more exact info. You can also email me if you want.
