I am a 150lb 5'4 woman who has a 17 month old and a 4 year. I tried the atkins diet I lost 8 pounds the first week and all together going on and off it for a while I have lost 18. I had a hard time getting started and staying on it. I don't like red meat and I need to find something that will work and that I will lose quickly for if I don't see results I usually don't stay on the diet long.

  2. Your question is a great one, but diets aren't the right way to lose weight! You need a lifestyle change, one with good habits that will stick with you and rub off on family and friends. Trust me, there is no quick fix, but doing it the healthy way will help you keep the weight off!

Use this website, I promise you will love it http://www.sparkpeople.com. I went through a phase when I felt like nothing worked, but the way this website is set up, it really helps you stay on track. Enter in your goal weight, and a deadline for which you want to lose it by. It will then give you a daily caloric range that you must try to stay within and then a goal for cardio minutes each day/week.

Also, as long as you find other sources of protein, you will be fine. There are recipes http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/browse-re... here if you need more ideas. You can even print off a weekly meal plan and a shopping list of ingredients. Its small changes, but they add up to really make a difference!

As far as cardio goes, you need to get into a routine. Just think of everything you do during the day (maybe walking the kids to the park or even running with your 17 month old in those running strollers, or cleaning the house) and put these into your exercise log. Find out what you like to do, weather it be swimming, jogging, soccer, pilates, whatever, and do that a few times a week. You might have to join a gym to get all the extra cardio machines like the elliptical, to burn even more calories. Get friends or family to help out too! They will keep you on track a little better.

But use that website and after a few weeks of monitoring your calories and making balanced meals, you will see a difference! Good luck
