so my dad was uninstalling things off of our computer from the control panel, and accidentally deleted some something important. When we try to turn it on the computer it says "windows did not start successfully a recent hardware or software change may have caused this"

it then asks us if we want to start windows in safe mode along with some other options

when we choose to "start windows normally" it just loops back to the same screen"

I dont know what to do

  1. hmmm u just open with

"windows with last known good configuration" it will be there at down of safe mode....... or press F8 and go to that

  2. The mother board is gone, he deleted the sector that goes to pick up the hard drive.

  3. you need to start windows in safe mode then go to start menu

programs accessory's system tools system restore then choose a date b4 what ever u did

  4. Try to go on safemode, if that doesn't fix it, then you need to boot with the Windows CD and Repair your XP.

I STRONGLY suggest you get someone that knows what they are doing, since using the Repair option from the Windows XP CD could delete all your files.

  5. You deleted a driver.

  6. Start it in safe mode. Go to Accessories, System Tools then restore

  7. or you could reinstall your OS

  8. Hi dude,

As you are not able to restart the system in Safemode and not able to repair it just do one thing try to reinstall the OS again but at the time of installation you will be asked to install the software in some default directory, at that screen you select the option leave the existing directory intact and then install OS this time in the new directory.. I hope this may fix the problem.

Actually you should be able to restart the system in safemode and restore the system to some early point so that you can restore those softwares and as you said you are not able to do that then it means that you may have to reinstall the OS... No other go...

  9. have you tried starting "last known good configuration?"

If this does not work, then go into safe mode, and use system restore to restore your computer to a day before you were uninstalling things.

  10. Try safe mode and then find the system restore option and restore to an earlier date... may or may not help.

  11. boot it up into safe mode and do a system restore to an earlier time before he was uninstalling stuff, it's pretty simple :)

  12. if you have window XP CD, insert it and restart your computer, when it asks to start CD automatically just press anything.  Then when it loads all the files, it will ask whether you want to repair window, press the 'key' instructed that would repair your computer and wait, hope that'll do the trick

  13. go into safe mode and try doing a restore.  if that doesn't work start saving your files and reinstall windows. sorry but i think you might be out of luck
