Who are the illuminati? and what they're all about, can they be freemasons? if they are what they're trying to hide from this world. Name at least 5 famous freemasons

Pleas do not confuse Illuminati with Freemasonry- they are not the same nor are they related.

The Illuminati is the name given to not one but several groups during the Age of Enlightenment. (AKA- Age of Reason) In general the primary group by this name was the Bavarian Illuminati of Central Europe. (Prussia Germany, Austria...) The Illuminati groups were all social political "think tanks" of sorts that tended to embrace more leftist and socialist style idealism. Illuminati membership was informal, as was the general group structure. None of the Illuminati groups out-lived the era in which they were born, the last dying out in the early 1800's. While there were members of Illuminati groups that were also Freemasons, the two groups were not related in any way, and some Illuminati groups held ideals that directly conflicted with Freemasonry. I doubt they were in their time actually trying to hide anything, other than their own identities to save themselves from prosecution by the crowned heads of Europe.

Freemasonry is a fraternity. It is required that the individual choosing to join meet certain criteria, including the belief in a Supreme Creator of the universe, be of reputable character, and of sound mind. Freemasonry is not a religious or political organization, it is an organization that believes in the study and practice of morality, reason and honor, and seeks to assist the individual in becoming a better man by applying these things to his own life and to his dealings and actions in the community.
