I need help from a HUMAN on Lord of the Flies?

and basically it's just about how the island fades from an orderly environment to a chaotic mess. this is symbolized by order= the conch, piggy's glasses= intelligence (you notice they lose control when they break & when he dies), smoke fire they make= hope and there's a lot of other symbols in the book as well.

The fine line would be intention. Are the actions for the good of society or the good of yourself? Isn't society key to civilization?

I think a major key is the last page or so in the book.  The kids on the island are fighting for survival.  They are having and all out war.  When they are found by adults, it is passed off as just child's play. Ironically, the adults are off to war.  I think you can gain a lot from that section.  I don't remember too much else.

Lord of the Flies is a book about a group of boys who survive a plane crash and find themselves on an island without any adults to supervise them. Their plane is shot down because a war is going on. WIthout any adults around to take charge, the boys develop their own system of government. Some major players you want to watch are Ralph, Piggy, Simon, Jack, and Roger. Ralph tries to set up some sort of fair system. Piggy is the braniac kid that others dislike. Simon is the kid who thinks of others before himself. Jack is a jerk, and his buddy Roger is a twisted sadistic freak. The boys basically run amok and start killing each other. They set the island on fire as they attack each other, and this ends up attracting the attention of adults nearby. A grown-up shows up and the boys stop their crazy behavior.

The word you need to know when you talk about this book is "microcosm". The island is basically a mini-version (microcosm) of the world.The boys are on the island and they fight and kill each other until an adult shows up to stop it. The world is like the island, except it has adults fighting with each other. Who will show up to stop it?
