Im thinking of changing our telephone provider and changing to Optus which are offering a deal to put your phone and internet together and receive one bill a month of $79.00

I don't know much about internet speeds etc etc so I want to check with you if this deal will be good for us. Currently I use Dial-up which seems to take a long time to do anything so thats why Im thinking of changing to broadband. The speed they offer is 20mbps and 2GB data allowance. I use the net daily mainly for emails, looking for jobs, ebay and basic stuff. I don't down load music or movies or anything thing slightly difficult hehe. So do you think if I went for this deal those numbers I gave you above would be statisfactory for us?

  1. Weigh up the cost of your phone bill now and the cost of dial up against the figure you mentioned. If you are only browsing and checking/sending email and not downloading lots it sounds like it might be for you, 2 gig is not a great amount but as I said if you are only a light user then it might be ok. You'll certainly notice the different speed, and i guess you realise you have to get a new modem/router.

  2. cable is way better than dial up... you will see the difference right away and you will want to do a lot of things when you get the faster internet.. if its overall the same or less money per month you should definitely do it. personally i cannot live without broadband and im paying 50 bucks a month and for my cell phone i pay about 50 as well, so thats 100 and 79 is right up my alley if i had a phone in my house =D i would do it, and you will love the faster internet i guarantee!
