  1. If they won't let him reenlist he can probably join the National Guard or Reserves when he gets home and then volunteer to go back on active duty.  The Army is a beautiful place to work.  (Mild sarcasm.)

PS Tell your hubby to stay out of trouble.  He's obviously not good at getting away with things.  He probably could have gotten emergency leave if he went through the right channels.

  2. First thing your hubby needs to do is go talk to his First Sgt and find out why he isn't being promoted. What is his MOS? Some fields promotions are harder to come by but he should at least make SP-4 in two years. If he's displaying a negative attitute well, then it's on his shoulders.

He should also be doing what ever possible to further his education, being depoloyed is a good time to take correspondence courses. Put in requests to attend military schools. Anything to add to his military records on the plus side add promotion points.

If he plans on staying in maybe he should look at a different career field, something he would enjoy doing and maybe has a better promotion ratio.

Good luck and thanks for your (yes, that's for the wife also) service to our Country!!

  3. He may be able to re-up but not qualify for a bonus.  Does he care if he gets the bonus. /

  4. How long has he been in? If he is not making rank quickly enough the military will prevent him from re-enlisting because his is not motivated enough. Good Luck

  5. Yes, you must be at least a PFC to reenlist.  If he has been in for over a year and he isn't a PFC yet that means he is either flagged (possibly for being overweight or enrollment in ASAP) or has received an Article 15 recently.  How long has he been in?  If he is squared away he should get his PFC in no time and can reenlist the same day.

EDIT: If he just got his rank back he will be eligible once he gets pinned PFC.  For future reference, if something like that happens again your husband has the option to go up higher, like to the BN Commander or higher if they refuse to allow him to take emergency leave.  Stopping at his supervisor or CO/BC and going AWOL just made it worse but if he made a complaint up higher then he would have been allowed to take leave and wouldn't have lost any rank.

  6. Is he eligible to re-enlist? Is he flagged from re-enlistment such as over-weight, pending UCMJ action, can't pass the APFT? If he isn't flagged why can't he wait to do so? He will receive more money the higher the pay grade. What your husband needs to do is get in contact with his brigade career counselor. That guy will be able to help him with the process and is the only one who can bring up the paper work required to re-enlist. Good luck!

PS-You as the military spouse can affect his career in many different ways. Just remember to always support his goals and push him hard to maintain the standard. Be sure his uniforms always look great and that he is prepared to do whatever is neccessary. You control the home front so be the rock he needs and tell him when he screws up! Keep him motivated and squared away. Don't allow him to become substandard. Push him to make rank and make him study the information he'll need to know to become a good leader in the future.

  7. yes it may be true
