I need help getting my VHS onto my computer?

My computer has built in Composite jacks,

and i hooked it up to our camera, which is like reallly old, but has composite jacks too. i put the VHS in, and now i dont know what to do.

do i put the camera on Camera or VCR and do i have it on Input or Output,

and then what program can i use to get it onto my computer?

  1. Awesome! Okay, so you need a video capture software.  Pinnacle Studio can capture video/audio from analog sources.  I'm assuming your composite inputs are on an add on card, so that card has to be  compatible with some softwares.  When you get the software, you have to tell it what source you will be using.  In your case, it will be the analog video card.  after that, play the tape ( in play mode) from the camera, hit record on the software and it will record from the cam to your pc.  It should be real time recording, so you'll have to let the tape play all the way through.

    Also make sure the composite jacks on your computer are "input".  It might take some time to familiarize with whatever software you use, but play around with it, get to know it.

    I think it's an older version, but it should be similar.  Just look for "Capture Video" or "Capture from device".   And again, the video card has to be compatible.
