The washer over here where I stay makes holes in the clothes and they get caught and have burnt marks. I need to hang dry my shirts and undies :). Uh any tips because I did it once when I was like 8 and the clothes was all hard. Plus there's no clothing line here so how do I go about doing that. Sorry but I'm on my own and would appreciate the help.

  1.   After you wash your clothes, rinse them with softner, and then place them on hangers and put them on the shower rod to dry. Or you can buy a portable clothing line and put it outside, and use that when you have to dry the clothes.

  2. Go to a department store like WalMart, Target, Meijer and look for a drying rack.  They fold up, so they are easy to store.  You can also take shirts and hang them on hangers to dry.  You may want to get thicker hangers so you don't get those little bumps in the shoulders, but I hang my shirts up all the time to dry like that.  As far as the underwear, see if you can find any hangers that have clips-clothes pin type clips-on them.  This works well for bras and undies-you clip the article to the hanger and then hang the hanger on the bathroom shower rod or anyplace that the hanger will hang.  About the clothes getting hard, that is a problem with clothes not dried in the dryer-something about the heat and the fabric softener makes the clothing soft.  All I can suggest is that you use fabric softener in the washing machine and that will help some.  If you can afford it, they do make portable washing machines that attach to your kitchen faucet that can wash small loads of clothes.  You may look into something like that.

  3. The dollar store should have an over-the-door hanger that holds several hangers.  You can put it over your bathroom door and hang your clothes so they drip on the tile floor---just don't slip when you walk in!  Chances are you will have to iron the clothes, especially cottons, because they will be wrinkled.  Good luck.

  4. You can buy a drying rack from wal-mart. One that either goes over the door or stands by itself. If you don't want to buy one of those, I just hang my clothes on doorknobs and chairs.

I've never had a problem with them becoming hard or anything. Sometimes when pants or some shirts dry they are slightly stiff, but you can just shake them a little and they loosen up normally.

You can also make your own clothes line by stringing a cord/rope between 2 things. I have a little back porch that is about 10 feet wide, and has little fence dividers dividing my porch from my 2 neighbors' so sometimes I string something up between the 2 fences (but then everyone on main street can see my clothes hanging out lol). You could string something up between anything like 2 doorknobs, 2 chairs, etc.

  5. If you don't have a way to hang a clothesline, try using a folding wooden clothes rack. It is useful for smaller spaces, can be spread as wide or as narrow as needed, and holds a fair amount of items. To keep items from drying stiff, try using a liquid fabric softener when washing them.
