  1. the first step to getting better is admitting you have a problem, thats smart of you to try to take control of a situation. Go to your meeting alone, stop hanging around your friends untill you get better,

    goodluck

  2. i hear ya but posting this in here isnt gonna git ya anywhere, call a minister or priest, they might know of a meeting, or the local library or something, but posting in yahoo answers under food isnt the place to look for the twelve steps to freedom

  3. call 211 ask them where's an AA meeting near you....

  4. You are making a very good and mature decision and very lucky you are realizing you have a problem early on in life. I hope you don't give up. Good luck.

  5. I drink when I'm depressed. It's kind of a problem, in that I sometimes overdo it in front of my younger sibling, but maybe you could find something or someone in your life that will motivate you away from the drink. That might be the only other way.

  6. Go to your AA on youre own, the first step is to admit to yourself youre an alcoholic and you did it so now do whatever you have to do to help yourself. Stay away from negative influences(friends, bars..) , go to the AA, find someone who can relate to you and help each other and keep away from negative thoughts.

  7. Not sure what's closest, but here's the AA sites in OH.

One of the steps will be to stop hanging around with the friends that always encourage you, or to atleast get them to understand it's very detrimental to you.  If they care about you, they will stop; if not, they are not worth having as friends.

Getting destroyed even though you have work the next day is a good indication you can't control yourself at all.

You're not young at all, especially with a family history.  One of my friends I've known since elementary school is 22 and drinks a lot, even staying up until 8am to continue drinking when the party stopped hours ago, and keeping empty bottles as a collection.

  8. Call your local AA and get the meeting schedule.  If you don't have a ride to the meeting, ask for someone to pick you up.  Get yourself a sponsor and get yourself sober.  You need a new circle of friends who will support you to be clean and sober.  Good Luck...........there is no better time than now to start.
