I had my first vball tryout today and i kicked butt lol ok but really i havent really been doing a lot of practicing this whole summer so when i went to the tryout which was really long 3hrs i got bruises and i have some swollen parts on my legs which isnt a big deal u get those all the time but since i havent done a lot of vball this summer im not in the best shape so im more prone to pulling my leg muscles. But the problem is that i have another tryout tommorow and i dont want my legs to be wobbly like they are right now so i have already taken a warm bath to relax my muscles but is there anything else i can do to help my muscles be better for tommorow?

Please help me!

  1. 3 hours?!?!?! Our try-outs go from 8-10:30 and then 12-2 or something like that.

Take tylenol for the pain and any swelling. Ice it for 15 min., then take it off for 15 min. and keep doing that for about an hour or so. Keep your feet elevated.

    and....

STRETCH!!!!! Before, during, and after tryouts you should stretch A LOT or you'll be sore for a week.

  2. All I can say is put ice and heat on ur legs........and u can talk to the coach and he/she can help or atleast take that into conciteration.

Oh and my try-outs were also for 2 days but they were for 6-7 hrs. so i was really tired and sore. GOOD LUCK!

  3. All i can think of is to put ice on it...it's the only thing that will reduce the swelling.

    Hope i helped :)

  4. put ice on it or take a bath with ice or a really hot bath, u decide.

also remember to eat healthy during tryouts and get a lot of rest before em

  5. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. Will help, but ice is best choice for 15-20 minute intervals interchanged with heat. soaking your legs in a hot Epsom salt bath will also help. always remember to stretch before, during and after the game. Good luck.

  6. drink water, apply ice then switch to warm heat and get some ACE bandages or neoprene orthopedic knee supports...they have them at Walmart, Target or the drugstore

  7. ice and drink liquids.  you may want to try a light jog before tryouts to loosen up.  good luck

  8. you should have been training for at least a couple of weeks before tryout's. So this is what you get for not be responsable :o)

    Now to help you out,

Keep off your legs and feet

    Keep the ankles elevated

Did you strecth after practice? and did you do it right?

Stretch for 10 minutes every hour or so. This will help them feel better

Before your next practice remember to 1st warm up the muscles by doing a light cardio workout. Then stretch the muscles. Failure to do so will cause you to injure those tired muscle's.

All of this extra work could have been avoided if you had just gotten off your butt and got into playing shape before the season. Athletes are athletes year round, it's time to make the choice, do I want to be an athleter or a recreational volleyball player?.

    Good luck at tryout's.
