  1. Well I will say both are good guitars, BUT your resale value will be better on the Fender. Something to think about.

  2. I have an nepiphone sg and love it is limited edition custom shop wich makes it the most expensive epiphone sg out there but the good thing is it won't lose it's resale value. The epiphone Lp's have the same pickups as the sg and sound great but it depends on which lp model it is. The les paul you are looking at is a great les paul. However it will lose 100-200 resale value, for the price you are paying it's a great guitar. As for fenders they are nice guitars and will still lose resale value but not as much. I prefer th lp's because of the sound but hate that they have no vibrato bar.. They are nice because they aren't so heavy and have a double cutaway. Where as the les paul doesnt as well as the vibrato bar which the fender has and the les paul doesn't. However the les paul's sound much richer and have way better pickups. That's why eddie van halen took the body of a fender and put gibson humbuckers in it because he loved the sound but the les paul was to big and did not have the vibrato it all depends. If you are more of a rythm player or like fat sustained sound get the lp it's cheaper and then you could get a gould amp for 400-500 bucks. As for the fender if you are gonna be a lead player but don't mind the "thin" sound that a fender will give you get the fender. Again it's all about personal style and what kind of tone you like.

  3. a Epiphone '61 Reissue SG was my 1st guitar, 350$.

i really like it, it's neck heavy. I still play it although i've got an Epiphone DOT, 400$ now as well.

i know each of those are out of your proce range a little.

but the Epiphone DOT has got great sustaine, and just sounds a lot meatier then the SG.

but if your going to stick with these two options of the les paul, and strat. i'd do the strat.

    i mean, it's a fender strat standard.

it's got everything you need and it's just an all around god guitar.

it's where legends got their start.

  4. well tone wise your looking at two very different guitars the Les Paul has a warmer sound simply put and the strat has a sweeter sound personaly i would go for the les paul because i love those guitars and i has the sound im looking for but youll probably be better off with the strat depending on what sound you want from it and as far as classical and normal(?) go i dont think you can really get all of those in one guitar if you want classical then get a classical guitar and as far as acoustic guitars go there are FX pedals that make it sound acoustic but i really wouldnt want to use those i prefer the real thing anyways hope this helps

    God Bless

  5. i highly recomend the fender stratocasters, but not the squiers.  epiphones are decent, but i still recomend fender.  a fender was my second electric guitar, and has been my favorite ever since.  i'm currently a fender endorsee i liked them so much.  another good guitar is the schecter omen-6, which was my frist guitar back in the day.  i was a schecter endorsee, and i can tell you that shecter does not jack up the price the way epiphone and some of the other companies (BC Rich, ESP, LTD, etc) do.  the Schecter omen-6 is 300 dollars, so bargain it down to about 250 at guitar center.  When I was endorsed, i couldve only gotten it for about 200.  schecter does not overcharge.

by the way, i have a few epiphones, and theyre great for what they are, but really for the price, get one of my recomendations.  epiphones are just overpriced
