These are old records going back 25 to 30 years and if I can;t find them they won't let me adopt my grandson. I have found several sites but they all seem shady and want money - has anyone else faced this problem and how did you resolve it! I need help!

  1. I'm an adoption social worker...go to the county you were divorced in and request a copy....call them, if you mail in a photo copy of your ID they may mail it to you if you mail the check.

  2. You should just have to go to the court in the county that the divorce took place and ask for copies.  If you no longer live there, the best website that I have used is www.vitalchek.com

    They are pretty legitimate.

  3. Your best bet would be to hire a lawyer to do the work for you, they will find the records.

Otherwise, you do not need a website-go to the county where the divorce was filed and get the records from there.

  4. You can also call the county clerk's office in the State & County you were divorced in & ask them to mail/fax you a copy. It will cost  you but they can send it to you.

    Good luck on your adoption.

  5. Divorce records are public records. If you know the county the divorce took place in you can go to that courthouse to request a copy.

  6. Go to the courthouse in the county where the divorce took place and ask for a copy, they will charge you, but that's the sure way to get it.
