I'm going to Paris this December for a week and I really I'm stuck on where to go in the City. I been to Paris several times in the summer and spring but never in the winter. So I would love some advice on what to do in the city in Mid December.

  1. You're in the happy position of having been to Paris several times before and therefore probably done your duty as a good tourist and seen all the obligatory sights.

So now you can put away the tourist check lists and just enjoy the ambiance and life style of Paris. That's what keeps me going back. After 35 years of visits I've certainly seen all the major (and a lot of minor) tourist sights.

Just hang out and make some corner of the city your own. In a city where many, if not most, night spots stay open until the sun rises you can spend a lot of time hanging out.

My favorite hangout, Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand in the 5th, might be to your taste. Constant live music of the piano bar variety ranging from opera to jazz. A friendly crowd, decent food, a pretty bar tender, and not terribly expensive.

Or course, there are a lot of such places and you might want to find your own. But the idea is to just to be able to feel that, if only for a week, you're a Parisian.
