second question: the story would be worse if you knew what fortunato did to montressor because it would take away the intensity of the horror

Not knowing what Fortunato did to Montressor intenifies the horror of the story, because you are let to wonder about what really happened to Montressor.

The story would probably be worse because then you know exactly what happened and you don't use as much imagination figuring out what could've happened
