okay, well i really want to go on "the pill" because i want to be regular and i get really bad cramps etc etc.

im not sure if the pill helps the cramps but oh well.

i have had my period for so long now and it still isnt regular.

i am not a patient person, so dont bother telling me

"just wait, when you are older it wil become more regular"

dont do that

haha so sorry.

so my question is,

how do i ask my mum about me going on the pill?

i am just about to turn 16 in a couple of months if that helps...

please,

i need some help!

  1. Okay, the cramps are caused by how heavy your flow is, and the lining of your uterus and so on. Birth control helps regulate this, so therefore your cramps should be less. I believe your old enough to discuss the subject with your mom and be truthful in why you want the pill. If you are mature enough to lay out your reasons and what not then the discussion should go smoothly.

  2. Just tell your mother or the doctor (if you go alone) that you want to regulate your period and deal with your cramps. If you think your mother would not like you mentioning the pill, just tell her you want to see a doctor about your period and then let the doctor bring up the pill.

However birth control may not be the best thing for you so see if the doctor suggests other options. It's not really regulating the period, more suppressing the natural menstrual cycle and just causing a monthly withdrawal bleed. Though some girls (I've known some) go on the pill and still end up with painful heavy periods, and find other stuff like pain killers work better instead.

And yes it may get more regular in time even though you don't want to hear that.

  3. you are old enough to go to the doctor and discuss it with them yourself, but not all people get on with the pill, and get rotton side effects, like mood swings and weight gain.
