I am a parent who is disabled. I am partially legally blind and have limited vision in my left eye. Therefore life has really took us for a turn these past four years. So financially we are not where we need to be to help our son at least for his first year for his college tuition. So we are trying to get help with at least one or two more grants to cover his remainding balance of $8500.00. Any ideas would be grat. Thanks and God bless.

  1. Sorry to hear about that. Grants, free money you don't have to pay back, are hard to find. Other than federal grants or individual scholarships, I don't know of many options. Have you filled out the FAFSA to apply for federal financial aid or taken out federal loans? Those tend to have the best rates, as loans go. Here's some more information on federal loans:

If you find yourself considering private loans, the company I represent, http://www.tuitionbids.com, lets your apply to six different accredited lenders with one application. The idea is that these banks compete for your business and you end up with a better rate than most private loans. Just another option to consider.

I hope it all works out for your family!

  2. Wow...sorry to hear about your misfortune. Check with the FA Administrator at the school your child is going to attend and see if they offer some parent disability scholarships or loans. Also check into VA benefits and any other loans or grants that you can think of. Here are some websites that should help you also. Good Luck!!!!
