A friend of mine has found a "border collie/german shepherd" mutt on the side of the road. (although to me she looks more collie/lab). He is estimating that she is around a year old. He is unable to keep her and has asked us if we would take her.
We have been considering getting another dog for quite awhile--however, we tried adopting one from the pound and it turned out to be a horrific mistake. I have fostered dogs in the past, but this one that we had had serious aggression that we did not know about until a few weeks in.
We are hoping to avoid that situation again. Also, my current shepherd mix (bella!) has been well socialized, but has been the sole dog (except for the few weeks with the aggressive dog) since March and she is becoming quite protective and spoiled.
Since they would both be females, is there anything you can share that may help us decide what we should look for? We are planning to introduce them at the dog park next week. The new dog is due to be spayed and checked the 30th (prior to us getting her, if we do..)
