  1. if you dont want to kill it, then ask your vet if they will put it to sleep, and dont put the mother out in the wild.

  2. Never release domestic rodents into the wild, they will die, either through starvation or more likely through predators.   You will need to take the injured gerbil to a vet, to get the injury assessed and let them handle it humanely and properly.

You can try advertising the remaining youngsters locally, or contact a pet shop to see if they will take them.  if this doesn't work, then your best bet is to contact a local animal rescue centre for rehoming.

  3. o so sad i would let them in the wild even tho you proply♥them i would put them in the wild unless a pet shore would help them live than i would give it to a pet store

  4. If the mother has eaten the pups 2 back legs, then it must

    1) Be in agony

    2) Will pretty soon be dead from blood loss.

Get your Dad or another adult to help you put the poor thing out of it's misery ?

I don't see how letting it out into the wild will help when it has no back legs ? How would it run for a start ?

Again put it out of it's misery. NOW

  5. i cant imagine the female doing that. did you seperate the male and put him in a seperate cage?

  6. Geez, have a heart! Flush it or something. And no, you shouldn't let it (or its mum) out in the wild.

Wild gerbils! I have a friend who'd have something to say about cannibal gerbils in the wild.

  7. The must of been a reason for the mother to chew the two back legs off. Did you interfere at all with the pups? The most likely reason is that the pups legs got caught in bedding/toy. The mother will chew the back legs off if the pup is stuck.

I would suggest you take it to your local Vet and ask his advice about the situation. If he feels that the pup could live a normal life then I suggest you keep the little fella or take it to an Animal Shelter where they can give him proper care and attention. If the Vet thinks it's best to put him down then I'm afraid you will just have to let him go.

So sorry to hear about this but in future, to try and stop this from happening again, remove all types of bedding or toys that could trap the pups.

    Good Luck!

  8. never kill a gerbil if it has done something do not take notice of it i would probably sell the gerbils you have more chance knowing where your gerbils is so i would give you the answer saying never put it in the wild.

    many thanks.
