Okay, so heres the deal, we have a bunch of rose bowls, and other vases, all different shapes and sizes, and we have candles, now i wanted to float the candles in water colored by food coloring, our colors are clover and petal pink, is it alright if the colored water doesnt match the colors, idk, we tryed dying rock salt but that doesnt come out the right color either, and i love bright colors, so i dont just want the plain crystaly rock salt or plain water, so i guess if anyone has any other ideas of what we could do with a rose bowl and candles please share! i dont have much time left to make a decision, and your help would be appreicated. and also let me know what you think about using different shades of the green, or even differen colors (ex. blue, yellow, orange, red water/sand/salt). Thanks!

  1. Glass marbles or aquarium stones! They come in every colour imaginable and theyre super cheap. They look great in water center peices

  2. My stepson and daughter-in-law had a Hawiann theme at their wedding. For the rehersal dinner I had rose bowls that I filled about 1/3 of the way with white sand. I set the candle in that and then around the candle I set sea glass and glass stars in blues, greens and iridesent clear as well as shells. It looked like things found on a beach.. The glass is stuff you can buy at craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Micheals. I also found some at the dollar stores. It comes in mesh bags and costs about 3.00 for a big hand full.

You could do a combination of glass pellets, marbles and silk flowers in your wedding colors. Find small flowers that you can clip off or just pull off and stick in the sand. If you don't like the sand showing you can cover the surface with what ever you choose to put in- flowers, marbles, shells, beads, tiny rubber ducks, little christmas balls, silk flower petals that are larger, chocolate chips... ok now I'm getting silly. But brightly wrapped candy might be fun.... But you get the idea. As long as you keep the color theme consistant- it it doesn't look hit-and-miss or random, I think you should use any colors that you jolly well please. Don't worry about what is traditionally done- do what is an expression of you and your beloved's style.

The white sand can be found at hardware or home improvement stores. The nice thing about the sand is it gives you a base to put things in and it holds the candle steady.

No matter how the centerpieces turn out, the important part of the day is that you are marrying the most wonderful person in the world !

    Best Wishes!!!

  3. that sounds great especially cuz not alot of people do that color stuff.well hope everything works out and Congrats....

  4. i think different shades of green would be totally fine. it sounds like an awesome idea. as long as the colors are in the same "family" it should be ok. congratulations...and good luck.

  5. Marbles!!  Do colored marbles at the bottom.  You can get some that are all rose-colored, or all some other color, at a craft store like Michaels, and they're not really expensive- maybe about $10 for the size bag you'd need.

However, I actually really like the idea of using different colors of food coloring to dye the water in each bowl a different color, so all the centerpieces would look different and add lots and lots of color.  What do you think?

  6. regular water with lots fo food coloring or even fabric dye!  that should get it the color you want.

If it was easter you could get an egg dying kit and color the water... thats just dye tablets but its a deep color.

how about coolade to dye the water too?  the little packets that need sugar added minus the sugar!

  7. You can go to a petstore and buy the aquarium minirocks in various colors.

You can also look for fish or mini aquarium plants to put underwater and the candles on top.

You can also just have the rocks one color and put one colored flower underwater.

    Good luck and congrats.
