Ok points will be given to the first answer... the question is:

Ethylene glycol is the primary component in most automotive anti- freeze. The formula for Ethylene glycol is C2H6O2, which means there are 2 carbon atoms, 6 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. An oxygen atom is aprox. 16 times the mass of a hydrogen atom while a carbon atom is 12 times the mass of a hydrogen atom. what percent of the total mass of Ethylene glycol is carbon? Hydrogen? 1. take the total weight and divide by its parts.

    total weight of C2H6O2 =

    C = 12g * 2

    H = 1g * 6

    O = 16g * 2

    = 62g

    %C = 24/62 ~ 38.7%

    %H = 6/62 ~9.6%

    %O = 32/62 ~ 51.6%
