  2. Remember to KISS keep it simple, stupid.  No your not stupid, unless you start trying to get all fancy and put in wiggles and bounces...When I watch many girl players they want their serve to look niiiccce  so they think they must choreograph a routine before serving, WRONG!!!  Remember:  TOSS (out in front and 2-3 feet over your head)  STEP (1 med stride - opposite foot than swinging arm) HIT ( hit the ball with a spread out hand that is slightly cupped, hand should start behind the ear, contact the ball slightly in front of the forehead and finally follow through with velocity and snap your wrist - your arm should end up past your waist) Immediately get yourself into the court and in a good defensive position!  The simpler you make any move the easier it is to repeat and to be good at anything consistency of repition is what will get you there!!

Bumping (passing) is almost a lost form with the allowance of sloppy play the last few years on serves and hard driven balls.

Again, keep it simple.  learn to pass by staying  low and in position at all times, never get distracted until the point is blown dead.  Knees bent slightly arms fully extended elbows locked out , DON"T SWING YOUR ARMS to propel the ball only a slight flex with your knees and thighs will do the trick.  DON"T try to be cute and take spin off the ball by twisting your waist or shoulders learn to position your self so you are facing the target (setting spot) already.  Remember to pass to a spot NOT a person!!!  Have fun it's a great sport...the more you play (especially against good competition the quicker your reactions will be) I suggest joining an adult league during your off season or find open gyms where college/adult men play.  God Bless! :-)PJ

  3. well when it comes to bumping find a comfortable and grip and then keep body low and work on aiming it when you can pick a spot that you want to hit it to and just practice and practice  and then when it comes to serving make sure you throw the ball up and really get a good stans. it might help doing the same thing as aiming...good luck

  4. When you serve overhand, make sure to get a good starting toss. It should be about an arms width away from your body, and  about 2 feet higher than your head. After the toss goes up, make sure to hit the ball at about a 70ish degree angle. This looks like a "heil hitler!!" arm movement. Also, make sure to swing straight through the ball, and make sure your hand is as stiff as a piece of wood.

For bumping, make sure you have a good platform. Depending on where you're aiming, your shoulders should be ****** towards the person you're bumping to. Make sure your legs are about shoulder width apart, and that you bend your knees.

Practice receiving and bumping/serving against a wall, and you should be fine :)

  5. When your bumping don't fling your arms up, keep them straight, DONT BUMP WITH YOUR PALMS! gosh a girl on my vball team did that and ig bugged me so much!!! Use your knees and only sometimes your arms to bump. If your trying to bump out then angle your arms out, not up.

For an underhand serve you need control, you need to have  power but for an over hand you need even more power.

  6. first of all you need to provide more information. What age group are you playing, is it Club or School? to continue....

when working on passing (bumping..correct terminology is key) you need be in the down and ready position. This is where your feet are a little more than shoulder width apart, your squatting with knees bent (almost as if sitting on a bench), most of your weight is on your toes..do not be flat footed. Arm are together. When the ball is hit to you, hot the ball with the middle of your forearms. Do not swing your arms up/forward, use your legs to move teh pass by moving from the squatting position to an ALMOST standing position.

You can practice this technique by yourself by hitting the ball against a wall. It wont be fast paced as you will have to hit the ball on the higher side for you to be able to reset to the down and ready position.

Serving is a whole different ball of wax and depends on level of play. Feel free to email for more details..

  7. When bumping, you should always hit the ball with your forearm. The key thing is to get low and under the ball. You don't want to swing your arms. All you have to do is get under it and use your legs to move the ball up. Just make it sort of graceful.

You can serve in any ways you can, but for getting into a varsity team, you should learn how to serve overhand. All you have to do is throw the ball up and hit the ball with your hand open. There is really no trick to serving overhand, but all you have to think about when serving is to make it over the net.
