  1. My parents let me get a ferret when I was a kid.  And as far as I know, there is no 'cream' to make them smell less.  Just baths, and dry bath shampoo.  You could try showing your parents a ferret rescue league (where we got one from at first too).  However, please not that even if you keep your ferret clean, you MUST do laundry for it's cage bedding too.  Otherwise the ferret will just go roll in the smelly bedding.

Be polite to your parents.  Offer to pay for the food, cage, supplies, whatever you need in addition to caring for it.  You can show them the rescue ferret sites.  Ferrets are very quite pets, but even well cared for, the room WILL have a smell.  Not a very offensive smell, but it will try your responsibility to keep the cage clean, the ferrets cared for, and the smell to a minimum.

  2. if you really want one you would have to buy a large cage and toys to keep him or her occupied when your not around. I would guess you want one, one is fine but, you would need to let it out and run around in your room. You will definitely need to ferret proof your room. They will get into anything and everything. They also need to be taken to the vet. They need vaccines just like cats and dogs. You will also need to train it not to bite. before you get one buy a magazine on them and learn about what there needs are and how you can give them a good life.

  3. i have 2 ferrets at my house, you would want a large cage and sometimes they like 2 be let out and run around the house but they do p**p in a lot of corners but thats just an option, what do you really need 2 know? i know lots about them, make sure you do your research they are a big responsiblility:]

  4. Unlike some pets, if you wash ferrets too often, their glands will sense it and produce even more stink. Most ferret owners recommend no more than a few baths a year. To help convince my parents, I made a PowerPoint presentation with a ton of info and fun graphics about ferrets. I also did all my chores and things that weren't even my chores. I tried not to bug them about it too often, and to only bring it up occasionally.

    Good luck with the convincing!

  5. Washing a ferret more than once every two weeks makes them have dry skin and dull coats, it strips the natural oils out of the fur.

Can you do volunteer work with any ferret rescue in your area?  You can handle the ferrets and help socialize them and do cage cleaning, basically help out and learn in the process.  Your folks might be ok with that.
