Here is my computer

Base processor Athlon 64 X2-4600+ 2.4 GHz - AM2

Chipset NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

Motherboard Asus A8M2N-LA (NodusM3-GL8E)

Hard drive 250 GB SATA, 7200 rpm

(WD WD Caviar SE, 8mb cache)

Optical drive 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe drive

Video graphics Integrated - nVidia GF6150LE

Sound/Audio Realtek ALC 888 chipset; up to 8 audio ch.; Dolby Pro Logic II compatible

Memory card reader 9-in-1 (4 slot) + 1 USB

Network (LAN) Integrated 10/100 Base-T

Operating system MS Windows XP MCE 2005 w/ Update Rollup 2 - SP2

Expansion slots 3 - PCI Three (Two available)

1 - PCI Express x16

and the power supply is a 300 watt

I just was wondering if there is a video card that i can use for my computer to run Half life 2 pretty well because i cant play the game without lag....

So what is a great video card that can play half life 2 smoothly but not to be costly?

  2. 8800GS or 8800GT you need a new power supply get 600w or more. Don't get a 8600GTS they overheat too much.

  3. id say if you don't want to  change your power supply either an ati 3850, or perhaps an nvidia 8600. both will be cheap and should run half life ok. if you have a little extra, get a 9600gt  or a 4850, and get a 450 watt power supply.
