  1. You know, you can actually hire local catering or IT businesses which help you with everything you need for a themed party.

Look up some businesses on the net, and make sure they are in your hometown- that's what I did for my 18th rock 'n' roll legends theme party!

    Good Luck!

  2. check www.tinniewinnie.com for party favors

  3. Look up Halls on the web or local directory. Usually church halls are inexpensive depending on the size.  Party Hire places can help with red carpet and costumes sometimes.  Cusotmer Hire for costumes (you can make your own or buy clothes that look like a celebrity and accessorize - get a similar look!).  Local cake shop should help with the cakes, go see one and tell them what you need, they usually help!  Good Luck!

  4. Hi,

I had the exact same theme for my 15th last year. It was a blast! Here is a picture of my themed cake: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27303769@N0...

If that link doesn't work, go on to www.flickr.com and type in the search bar 'hollywood cake elysia' and it's the top one.

A local lady who makes beautiful cakes made it for me!

As far the decorations, most of them you can easily purchase of the internet, but others I made myself. Firstly I made a huge clapperboard out of wood. I got my parents to cut it into a clapperboard shape. Then I used black chalkboard paint which I found at my local paint shop. Then I used white chalk to do the traditional white bits on the clapperboard. I then wrote titles for each slot like: Movie, Date, Time, Cast etc. And wrote things like Movie = Elysia's 15th Birthday and Cast = All of her friends etc. It looked great stood outside the venue. I went to my local cinema and asked if I could borrow some of their movie posters and standees, and they were more than happy to oblige, so I would definitely considerr asking them. I ended up with Moulin Rouge, Pirates of the Caribbean and Night at the Museum standees and lots of posters. As for the decorations that you can buy here are the websites that I used: http://www.partyrama.co.uk/scp/Grown_Ups...

    http://www.partybox.co.uk/hollywoodoscar...

    http://www.all4parties.co.uk/glitz_n_gla...

    http://www.hollywoodparty.co.uk/

    http://www.partystuffonline.co.uk/

    http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?cat=...

As for the venue, I'm afraid I can't help you with that, as I live in Englan, but good luck with that, I had trouble finding one myself, as no-one let's under 21's have parties here really.

The red carpet I purchased from here: http://www.party-tracker.co.uk/p4948-red...

My guests didn't choose to dress up as a celebrity, they just wore tuxedoes, shirts, ties, long dresses etc. To look like they were on the red carpet, but if you do choose to be movie stars, you'll end up with lots of Marilyn Monroes.

As I had about 50 people I couldn't really give out proper themed party favours, so I gave out gift bags with fluffly pens with the letter of the name on top and lots of chocolates in star shaped wrapping (so that was themed). I also went to shops in town that sell perfume and aftershave, and asked for samples, I did this in every shop and came back on different days until I had enough and slotted them in the gift bags too. My friends loved this idea, as they were all trying them on and most people ended up buying a real bottle of thei sample.

I hope this helps you and I hope you have a fab party!

  5. Party cheap has all the decorations for this party at a good price.  They also have a red carpet that we used.  Check the size though  and keep in mind in is stuck down with a kind of sticky tape attached to it and it leaves a sticky mark when you pick it up so have some mild adhesive remover with you if you rent a hall or place so they dont charge you.  It comes up easy though.

Oriental trading has a whole decorating kit for a movie night theme but that is different from an oscar night but you can see what all they have.  Some of the decorations will fit your theme too.  They also sell the red carpet and a movie centerpiece which we bought and was fine

For cheap favors oriental trading sells metallic beads.  We got gold and black and handed them to guests as they came in.  Also, oriental trading sells a big bag of butter mints that each come wrapped in a movie night theme.  They also sell these small trophies with a star on it that you can personalize.  We put a friendship quote on ours to give to guests.  Also oriental trading sells director photo frame key chain.  It is a clapboard and a picture can be inserted in it.  Also buy a birthday lollipop mold, lollipop sticks and bags and some bulk milk chocolate from the grocery store or some red chocolate melting chips at the craft store.  All you do is melt the chocolate in the microwave, spoon in to the mold and put in the stick and freeze for like 3-5 minutes.  Then put in the bag and the bags come with ties.  We did this and it was very cheap to make and everyone fought over them.

Windy city novelties sells great personalized banners in  your theme.  We used them for a hollywood one.

For our hollywood party for the tables we bought black plastic tablecloths but we bought cheap gold overlays from efavormart.  They looked so classy.  We bought the movie centeripieces from oriental trading and some similar cascading ones from party cheap.  Also on the table we had a balloon arrangement.  We used the foil balloon weights in black and gold and we attached 3 helium latex balloons in black, gold and silver and 1 19 inch mylar hollywood balloon.  We also made our own camera tent cards on the computer just using word.  We used a cool font and color and we inserted a hollywood picture from the internet.  We bought the cameras at aldis cheap.  That way your guests use the camera to take pictures at your party so you get lots of pictures.  We made similar balloon arrangements for the corners of the dance floor but we bought large 40 inch mylar balloons.  We made other balloon arrangement as above but without any mylar balloons, just the latex ones and we put those around the entrance, on the cake table, on the dj table, and randomly around.   Just adjust the length of the balloon ribbons, shorter for the ones on the tables and longer for the ones on the floor.

Everyone should get their own costumes.  Pinatas.com and buycostumes are sites.

For large theme kits check out stumps prom and anderson prom.  If you dont want to get the whole kit you can get just parts of them is what we did.  We got a large arch that went on one side of the dance floor.  It really made the party.

We bought black and gold plates, cups and napkins from the dollar store but also but 2 sets of the hollywood ones to mix in and they totally looked like they went together.

Also hollywood megastore, shindigz, party merchant

    Invites:

party cheap sells VIP passes or you can make your own from oriental trading.  They sell neon badgeholders with a nylon cord and you can print the cards on the business card maker section of your computer like word or works and use colors and fonts and VIP on one side and your party info on the back.

for personalized invites handykane sells a movie ticket single page theme invite.  We used this fro hour hollywood theme but you use your own word and could title it as you wish.  It is not a card you open just on one side it is like a ticket and says admit one, on the other side is what you want and the party info.  They are a buck a piece and come stuffed in the envelope with your return address on them.  Very high quality, unique, excellent company service and a portion of the price goes to charity.
