  1. If you want to be a setter, you have to be quick thinking.  Play other sports that require quick thinking and strategy like Badminton and Ping Pong.  Tennis will help you understand ball flight and trajectory.  Dancing (salsa, swing, even ballroom) will help your feet coordination.

Finally, rather than set with a volleyball, try setting with a basketball or a heavier ball like a soccer ball that is the same size as a volleyball.  If you've got money and you're serious, you could buy a setter's ball which is a volleyball with a weight in it to make it heavier.  But personally, I just used a basketball.  Works just as well.  Once you go bback to a vball, you'll find it so much easier to set.

My other advice is to watch all the volleyball tutorials online.  Some can be found on youtube.

  2. I'm not a coach, I'm a captain but I could still help. If your trying to be a setter work on using your hands to set the ball, bend your knees and extend, work on setting 4's and 2's. If your working on passing make your platform is flat, pointing thumbs down, and don't swing your arms! Use your legs and try to angle your arms to get the ball to the setter.

  3. I play volleyball too, my personal coach told me to do 50 sets on the wall day and night (100 sets a day) and so far my dad said Ive been getting better. Also just go outside for maybe 2-3 hours everyday and set and bump to yourself. Your mom or dad could even go out and toss you a few balls. Good luck!
