I need help on some science!?

Is a element made up of only 1 atom and a compound made up of 2 or more atoms? I thought this but wasn't sure it is right - if not please can you tell me what is the answer is that is right. Thanks.

  1. an element is any number of the same kind of atom. like all hydrogen. a compound is a mix of 2 elements like H2O. the number of atoms have nothing to do with it.

  3. yeah! element is made up of one atom. and if 2 or more atoms combine itsd called a molecule

  4. In an element all the atoms are the same type.   For example, Oxygen is an element.  Oxygen gas is made up of molecules of gaseous oxygen, each of which contains two oxygen atoms.

    In compounds there are more than one atom, and they need to be of at least two different types.    Carbon Monoxide is a compound.  Carbon Monoxide gas is made up of molecules of Carbon Monoxide, each of which contains one Oxygen atom and one Carbon atom.
