OK, I need a huge help from you people, because I need correction. I have a friend who was a Jew and I witness to him and so he became a Christian but he still has a Jewish mentality. Until when on about the law and I told him that God change the old law and so on but he says in the Torah that God did not change nothing. Can anyone here please help me, because I think I said something wrong that got this former Jew when off and I really need help of how I should explain to him.

  1. Mat 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Mat 5:19  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:20  For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

If you go to Rev 12-14-22 you will see that the commandments are still in force and will be forever.

  2. By opening up salvation to a universal world, God didn't so much "change" the law as He told us our hearts are ready to hold more.  So I would tell him God expanded the law, just as He did our hearts.

Study Preterism...the old elements of the law were burned away to make room for the Kingdom of Heaven.

  3. Maybe he just said he would become a Christian so you would leave him alone.

  4. in Matthew Jesus said this:

Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

    Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus said the whole law could be summed up into these two commandments. this is what we as Christians now live by.

  5. Matthew 5:18   For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

  6. Jesus said...

    Matthew 5:17

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

This is an important teaching. It is also a very profound teaching. God will give you insight into this.

That is really awesome that you led your friend to Christ by the way!

  7. Didn't he say " I came to fulfill the law not to change it"?

  8. Jesus IS the God that gave Moses the law.

    1Co 10:1  Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

    1Co 10:2  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

    1Co 10:3  And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

1Co 10:4  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST.

So what does Jesus have to say about it?

Joh 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

1Jn 2:3  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1Jn 2:4  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Isa 8:20  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Mat 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am NOT come to destroy, BUT to fulfill.

He fulfilled the law because our penalty for having sinned is eternal death. He paid that price for us! In that way He "fufilled the law".

He did not "do away with the law"!

Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Has heaven and earth passed away?   NO!

  9. Jesus fulfilled the law not change it.

  10. Jesus fulfilled the law.

Specifically he fulfilled God's promise to Abraham that through his seed, ALL nations (not just Israel) would be blessed.

    The law led to Jesus.

  11. Its 'Jewish' you dipshit not 'Jew' . The least you can do is be respectful jackass

  12. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” (Matt. 5:38-39.) It had been said of old that one should love his neighbor and hate his enemy, but Christ said that the disciple is to love his enemies, bless others that may curse him, do good to and pray for them which hate or despitefully use him. (See Matt. 5:43-44.)

    Matt 23:23

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

    Luke 11:42

42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

The sacrifice of the Son satisfied the Law of Moses. Now you are to offer a contrite heart.

    Acts 13:39

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

    Acts 15:5

5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command [them] to keep the law of Moses.

    Acts 28:23

23 ¶ And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into [his] lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and [out of] the prophets, from morning till evening.

15 Yea, and they did keep the law of Moses; for it was expedient that they should keep the law of Moses as yet, for it was not all fulfilled. But notwithstanding the law of Moses, they did look forward to the coming of Christ, considering that the law of Moses was a type of his coming, and believing that they must keep those outward performances until the time that he should be revealed unto them.

13 Therefore, it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice, and then shall there be, or it is expedient there should be, a stop to the shedding of blood; then shall the law of Moses be fulfilled; yea, it shall be all fulfilled, every jot and tittle, and none shall have passed away.

17 And as many as have received me, to them have I given to become the sons of God; and even so will I to as many as shall believe on my name, for behold, by me redemption cometh, and in me is the law of Moses fulfilled.

  13. Tell him it's not kosher to be a spaz

  14. Yes, the law changed from the Law of Moses to the Law of Christ.

For these people answering on this forum, you do not know your Bible very well.

Hebrews 7:11If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come—one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? 12For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.

1 Corinthians 9:20  --  To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.

We are now under the Law of Christ.  The worship days never were abolished.  We are now to keep the Sabbath and God's seven annual feasts according to the new covenant, the Law of Christ.
