if i connect 3 subs, like in this diagram(the subs are 4 ohms)

does that mean they are going to be a 2 ohm load?

  1. the diagram that you have lookes pretty good to me

  2. They are achieving that ohm load with dual voice coils....

If the subs you have are single coiled 4 ohms then you will have a choice of 2.7 or 1.3 ohms.

2.7 will have to be two subs wired in series then paralleled with the 3rd.   1.3 ohms will be all wired in parallel.

The problem with either scenario is finding a suitable amp that will give the power needed at the required ohm load.  Unless it's a amp like some of the JL's that have the same output regardless of ohm load ( in the allowed range that is), you're going to have to do some figuring as most amps are only rate 8,4,2, and 1 ohms.  Depending on the ohm load a amp to run them can be found.    Not hard but more info will be needed.

If you need help contact me.....

  3. if you look back at the diagram it shows that each sub will be at a 4 ohm load.  since its 2 ohms at each input then each sub is bridged so that you get 4 ohms instead of 2 ohms to improve the sound quality.  i hope this helps.
