I'm 15 and I live in Florida, and I want to be in the 2014 Winter Olympics. I know that seems like a far-fetched idea being that the Olympics is 6 years aways, but that gives me more time to train for them. What I would like for asking this question, is someone who can train me for the Winter Olympics, or someone to coach for 6 years, and i plan to be in the speed skating event. So I really need tips and stuff. Im already good at rollerblading and ice skating by the way. Please tell other ppl about this question, I would really like a lot of answers.

Thank you.

  1. nice! i want to be in the  2014 Olympics too (for figure skating)

im 14 though, ive only got 3 more levels to make it to the senior level.

for speed skating, do yo have an ice rink in a 15-20 minute radius of your house? then you need to find a coach that goes to that rink. if there isnt any speed skating coaches, then you might have to find one online and move (just you, not your family) there.

anyways. you need to buy equiptment for speed skating, then you need to go on speed skating ice.

to train you should skate for AT LEAST 2 hours a day.

then you need to train you muscles off the ice. (running, jumping, biking) for AT LEAST 30 minutes.

you cant be afraid to fall, no matter how fast you are going.

stretch for about 7 minutes before you get on the ice

remember the 2006 olympics? watch the speed skating events. study the times of the people competing. even the people who got last.

  2. women

  3. 6 years in training is actually a pretty short amount of time in olympic years.  If you're really serious about this, you should think about training at an Olympic Education Center.  It's tough gettting into one and you'll really have to prove yourself, but it's a good option for people that still are going to school. There's one in Marquette, Michigan that offers short track skating.  Whatever you do, find a facility that has athletes with the same goals in mind and you will be able to push eachother far more than you could on your own.
