I need help picking a filter for RES turtle tank...

Question

Ok so the tank is 75 gallons, and I have 1 red eared slider turtle who is about 3 inches long (if that matters). I have no idea what kind of filter I should be getting for this...any brands, or just types that you'd recommend??

Penguin, or Marineland is good, Go to Walmart they are cheaper than Petco,Petsmart .

So you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system, Marineland or Penguin, which ever pumps out the most water.

You know  to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

And a big tank 55 gallons or more..

How much money are you willing to spend? I have a 100 gallon setup for my turtles (RES and Western Painted) and I use a Rena xp3 canister filter. It's was kinda expensive but it does and excellent job.

You will want to get a filter that is rated for about double your tank size (50 gallons of water - about 100 gallon rated filter) You can get this by using one large filter or multiple smaller filters.

Canister filters are good. There are fluvals, Ehiems, and the one that i have for my res a Rena xp3 filter. It is ok, but i still have to take out the turtle p**p every single day, so i think daily maintenence is more important than some filter.

i got a RES filter at petco it has a water fall in it and it helps alot
