  1. There's Gibson acoustics that don't need amps.

  2. I think an acoustic/electric guitar would be fine for you. So when you do get an amp you can plug it in. You can get an Ibanez or Yamaha.

  3. just get a mini amp like this: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/produ...

    it only cost 20 bucks

  4. buy an electrocoustic such as the ibanez talman

  5. Don't spend huge amounts of money on a guitar if you're starting off, what if you decide to change instruments? You can find something very decent for 300$ that isn't necessarily a "top brand". If you wanna play only accoustic, don't buy an electro-accoustic, you'll be disapointed in the sound.

When starting, make sure you like the sound and most importantly, that the "touch" (distance between the neck and the cords) isn't too high, or else you'll have very sore finger tips. Being you're starting off, you haven't toughened your fingers yet.

  6. What you need is an acoustic guitar in the price range of $200 to $300. Alvarez makes fine instruments for the beginner and intermediate player. They are good looking and have good resonance.

DON'T buy an electric guitar with the amplifier until after you've played for about two years.  (I would have emphasized this sentence in Italics if Answers! would have allowed it.)

If you truly want to learn to play the guitar then the acoustic is the best way to go to test your motivation, desire, and willpower to succeed and move beyond painful fingertips.

  7. for a beginner, i would say a fender strat(:

  8. An accoustic.

Or buy an electric guitar starter package. Or an electric guitar with a mini-amp or headphone amp.
