  1. Sounds like a good sand wedge candidate. 54-56* should work, Titleist Vokey's, and Cleveland are probably the top 2 on the market. You can get an older used one pretty cheap (50-$75) until you decide what you like. It takes some time to figure that out. I'd recommend asking to hit you friends' or families' wedges to start to get a better feel. Good luck.

  2. Get a 52. 52 is a good stop gap wedge. I've got Vokey wedge at 52 bounce 8. I otherwise use 56/10 and 60/4 spin milled. Too bad they don't make 52 spin milled. I wrote to Titleist who responded to me saying that for 52 you need a full swing and spin milled will ruin the ball, ending by asking me back whether that makes sense!!! It doesn't to me. I love 52.

  4. 54 or 56 if you're just adding one.  You also might want to think about going with a 52/54 and a 58.  A 58 is a great wedge to have in the back and can take the roles of both the 56 and 60, plus its much easier to hit from the fairway.  I'm partial to Titleist Vokey wedges in the original or spin-milled, but the original Cleveland wedges are also great as are the new Nike wedges

  5. I carry a PW, 52 degree, 56 degree, and 60 degree to fill in the gaps.  I would say pick up a 52 and 56 and make sure you either get the Cleveland wedges (I think they are up to a CG12) with the zip grooves or Titlest Vokeys.  Let's put it this way, almost every pro has a Vokey in their bag.
