I need help pinning bugs for a project! Can I pin them on foam and leave them for 6 wks in my basement?

My basement is kind of cold, and I want to pin some bugs for a bug project on styrafoam and store it down there for a month and two weeks till its due. I heard that pests can destroy your collection if improperly stored! If i cant store it in my basement, where is a reasonable place in a house for me to store it until its due?

my cousin is doing the same project. as long as they r airtight sealed, it should be ok.
