  1. i recommend orbitz, travelocity, expedia, and priceline to find flights. also try specific airline websites. if you're a student, go to www.studentuniverse.com for discounted flights.

as for hostels, i recommend them for budget traveling. go to www.hostelworld.com or search the www.studentuniverse.com website.

    have fun!

  2. Hi!

    I always use this websites:

    www.edreams.it

    www.tui.it

    www.kelkoo.it

    www.venere.com

    www.opodo.it

    www.lastminute.it

    www.ryanair.com

    www.expedia.com

    www.easyjet.com

    I hope they will help!

This summer I will go from Milan to New York...I have found with Tui.it at 645 euros.

  3. Consider also Bed and Breakfasts, other than hostels.

    Check here: http://en.reserver.it

  4. There are very few real cheap prices on flights anymore, but you might try http://www.whichbudget.com/en/. Prices in September will at least be somewhat lower than in August because August is the vacation period here in Italy and lots of people want to fly then. This is a good site for finding budget airlines that fly between a given pair of cities. There are links to the individual airline websites to check schedules and prices. Depending on where you're coming from, you might also try: http://www.skyscanner.net/ and http://farechase.yahoo.com/.

  5. i'm not sure about flights.. when I went to Europe I flew into London.. however have you considered getting the cheapest flight you can find into europe and just get a connecting flight to Rome through a cheap European airline? My sister is packpacking the Middle East this summer and instead of a VERY expensive flight right to Turkey, shes going to Paris, and from Paris is going with Bulgarian Airlines into Turkey (shes saving almost 1000$)

Anyway, as for hostels, I have to tell you about where my sister and I stayed last summer.  Hostels were all expensive and booked, and then we found this campground right outside of the city (express shuttle bus brought you from campground right into Rome, running by the hour or something).. the campground was AMAZING! they already have tents set up with cots in them.. hundreds and hundreds of them for 11 euro a night, and if you want something nicer they have cabins and all sorts of accomadations. across the street from the campground is a huge grocery store/liquior store, and right on the campground they have a small grocery store, a resturant, internet access, laundry,  a pool and bar by the pool, as well as a night club with a DJ. It was seriously a blast, we recommended it to friends that were going to rome as well as other travellers heading to rome and they all went and loved it! heres some links if you want to check it out:

  6. I don't know about actually getting over here, but once your in Europe there is a company you can use :

    www.ryanair.com

These flights are like .99 euro cent or some are even free you just pay taxes. My last trip to Venice for me and my husband round trip cost 200 dollars. It services Europe only I think.

  7. go to http://www.euroflyusa.com

it's an Italian company and usually has the best rates and direct flights

the last time I flew back to Italy at the end of May I paid $300 one way
