Hello. I am trying to plan a trip to the south of France, and I really don't know much about it, yet. Where is a nice area to stay? We want to be beachfront (my husband and I are traveling) and something in the means of a Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, etc.

Thinking about Cannes, but not sure. Would LOVE Monaco, but I think it is too expensive.

Also, any MUST see things and any restaurant suggestions. The restaurants we would like is only French, price does not matter. Can be expensive or a hole in the wall.

Thanks for any and all help!!

(If anyone knows any good websites to book the trip on, that is great, too! We live in the US)

  1. Cannes,Nice,Marseille,Toulon,Sete. There are so many places to stay that are on the Meditteranean cost.

Try to look at french sites.I am Parisian and looked at some of the vacation sites in English. They are too much.

Try to learn a small amount of French as well.

  2. Hello

I would strongly recommend that you book accommodation through French websites as opposed to UK/US websites.  It is so much cheaper and there are loads available to you if you use search engine.  My husband and I booked everything separately and saved a fortune with car hire, flights and accommodation.  We are doing Champagne Region for ten days for a family of four in 4 star cottage and two hotels, one of which is in Disneyland paris for two nights and it cost us under £1300 stering including flights from UK, car hire and disney tickets - bargain!   All booked on line and so worth it.  We are going in August.... good luck!
