I have a big family and lots of friends with kids. For his one year birthday we had a zoo come to my parents house. For his two year old we took him to Disney and Seaworld. Now I don't know what else to do. We're doing a Kung-Fu Panda theme and i'm making his pinata. He's not a big fan of clowns either.

  1. Just let the kids play in the yard and have a good time.

  2. The big 3....You're half-way there just for having picked the theme.  Get/Make a cake decked out with the theme in frosting.  The only problem with theming by a movie in theaters is that you can't really watch it at the party, unless you plan it with all the parents, which I'm sure would be fun for the kids.

Planning some kind of project for the kids to take home after the party is always a good idea.  Like you could get face masks (kung fu panda masks of course!) and have the kids decorate them, and they they could wear them when you play games outside.  You could do a treasure hunt with something that appears in the movie in your backyard.  Just plan extra activities in case something bombs.  Making play-dough is always a good one--kids love mushing it and then using it in projects.  Good luck!

  3. What we did for my daughter's 3 year old party was put balloons all over the floor of the party room, and that pretty well took care of the entertainment cheaply.  We had other activities planned, but they all wanted to play with the balloons (some more agressively than others!)

  4. I would keep it simple and just let him have fun with the family and take movies and lots of pictures. You don't need a spectacular celebration each year. Let him see the family together and having fun on his day. Save your money and do fun things at home.

  5. In a recent birthday party that my kid was invited to, they had put up a big screen tv and played a musical snapshow made from digital pictures of their 4-year-old. The snapshow was professionally made and was beautifully choreographed to music. They had got it done from http://www.smilingsnaps.com  It was such a unique idea- I had never seen anything like that before!! I am planning to do something similar for my kid's upcoming birthday.

  6. You can hire the characters from the film to come to the party. I hired Diego for my son's b-day, but also had an entertainer do face painting, lead the kids in games and dance, and hand out prizes. If you have the space in your backyard, you can rent a bouncy castle as well.

This year I am having a summer theme(his b-day in in Nov.) and I've rented an indoor pool, but will also have the Backyardigans attending.

  7. Since you're doing a Kung Fu Panda theme, you could try to plan the activities around animals.  You could get some animal print paper and string and have the kids make masks, play animal charades (write the names of different animals from the movie and have the kids act like that animal while the other kids guess what they are).  You could also have pin the something on the animal (like pin the tail on the donkey) but use the animals from the movie instead.

  8. depending on where you're located in the country there are places that do all that for you here in louisville we have a place called pumpitup, and they have alll those bounce in toys and all kinds of other entertainment for the kids they even take care of cleanup so you might want to look into one those places in your area.
