attempt suicide 2 months ago about and after i was released from the psychiatric hospital i was assigned to a local MHMR. There, i had a case worker assigned to me and a psychiatrist. My next visit with him is October 13'th. If i were to tell him that i dont take the medication, can he put me back in a psychiatric hospital?

Im asking because i know if you voluntarily go to apsychiatrist, its up to you whether u take them or not, but since i attempted suicide and was forced to a psychiatric hospital before, can he force me into one if i tell him i dont take the medicine?

In order to be released from the hospital, i was required to continue treatment. I even had to sign papers saying i would continue treatment and such. Thats why im scared that if i tell him im not on my medications can he put me back in the hospital?

I am diagnosed as either Major Depressive Disorder with psychosis or schizo-affective

  1. GABE,, I want you to reason this out.. If you have been suicidal,,and medication has been prescribed for you,,don't you think you should take it ? If you have reasons for NOT taking it,,or there has been adverse reactions from it,,you need to bring that to the attention of the prescriber..Without help,,you surely will lapse into the same state that created your first incident.. Unless,,something has happened,,or has changed that you no longer feel the way you did before your attempt to off yourself !! Right now you should  be making your prescriber aware of the fact you have not been taking your medication..AND the reason why! YOUR mental help is dependent on your willingness to improve your life and attitudes for same..YES because you agreed and signed you would adhere to the rules regarding your release from hospital,,they could hospital you again..But if you possibly get different medication or have it changed or reduced or increased,,you could find ,,your situation to improve..ITs all trial and error,,however you HAVE to TRY !!  Do this for you,,and your future.. You really could greatly improve,,and change the course of your life !! I hope you'll give it a try.. Good Luck !!!         SOLOMON

  2. If 'they' consider you a danger to yourself (since you're not following through with your treatment plan) then 'they' can send you back to the hospital.  You need to take your medications so that that doesn't happen.

  3. i think they could.

i'm no expert but if he thinks your a risk to yourself or others because you are not taking your medication then i'd assume they can section you

  4. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure your doctor can send you back to the hospital. If you signed legal documents from the hospital stating that you would continue taking treatments then you should probably start taking you medicine again because your doctor thinks that you are a danger to yourself and other people.

  5. yes gabe  i think but not sure , that if you were released on sort of binding hospital order , that one of the condition for your release is that you take your prescribed meds , i think they can try to summon you back because i think they could say your breaking a binding hospital order or something ..

i would say and im not saying you should but, if you feel the meds arnt helping or there not agreeing i think you should arrange an appointment with the psychiatrist and arrange some type of ' advocate ' to go along with you to devise the argument your meds are not helping ,  then they can consider stopping them or try other meds.

or you could consider not taking them and not telling them, but thats your decision.

either way  i hope you resolve the situation, best regards dude
