  1. When you ask about your ancestry on the internet, I am not sure what you mean.

If you are talking about records and indexes of records, I feel Ancestry.Com is the best.

If it is too pricey, your public library might have a subscription to it.

If you are talking about subscriber submitted family trees, there you have to be careful.  The only way any of your family will be on any of the websites is if someone somewhere in your family subscribes to one of the websites and has submitted it. However, you have to be extremely cautious about the information you find in family trees on ANY website, free or paid.

The information is submitted by the subscribers and mostly not documented or poorly documented,  You might see different info on the same people from different subscribers. Then you will see repeatedly the same info on the same people from different subscribers. That is no guarantee at all it is correct.  A lot of people copy without verifying. There are errors in family trees on the internet.  There is no way the people who run those websites can verify the accuracy of the information.  They are not going to get involved in the difference their subscribers have on people.

So, if someone has told you that they have found their ancestry on the internet, please tell them unless they have verified it with documentation, they don't know whether it is correct or not.

Cyndi'sList.com has a multitude of different websites that can be helpful in searching your ancestry.  However, you are probably not going to find it all online.

  2. Pookie im not sure

  3. I would say, the best site with the most records is ancestry.com, there is a fee but it is worth it.

    http://www.ancestry.com

These free sites are also very useful:

    http://www.familysearch.org/

    http://www.rootsweb.com/

    http://usgenweb.org/

    http://www.cyndislist.com/

I would definately suggest first going to: http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html for some really helpful tips on getting started .

    Good Luck!
